  1. Anton Bruckner's Symphony no. 8, by the the Philarmonic of Munich, maestro Celibidache directing. Bruckner's symphonies are long and slow developing, but very satisfying to those who are well familiar with his music. They are an acquired taste which leave the listener with a sense of accomplishment and deep musical satisfaction. Bruckner was a deeply religious man and a very noble and innocent person. On one occasion he liked the performance of one of his symphonies so much that he tipped the director. The man was so touched by this act of social naivete that he put the coin on a chain and carried it with him afterwards. Bruckner's symphonies are like Bach's compositions, capable of transporting the listener on an intergalactic journey. They're actually about life, the universe, the nature of God, and the mystery of creation. Gabe Meruelo.
