Stopping by woods on a snowy evening

  1. Robert Frost reads his own poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening." As a freshman in college I was very impressed by a recording of Frost reading his own poetry. Frost had a way with words. My father used to love a quotation from him which said something to the effect that he "had an ongoing lover's quarrel with live." Who but a good poet thinks of something like that. A poet can pack a whole profound dissertation on a subject in a few well crafted words. This was Frost's ability, even greater than the musicality and sonority in which he could frame these words.
